Lainey Wood is an artist, writer, filmmaker, and linguist whose work revels in the organic beauty of multiplicity. Across disciplines, she seeks to capture and generate moments of altered sight, encouraging audiences to consider beauty as a catalyst for individual and collective change.
She holds a masters in Learning and Communication in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts from the University of Luxembourg, and in 2023 she began a PhD in Education at the same university. Her research looks at how speaking more than one language facilitates perspectives of multiplicity and possibility in artists, as well as how creative processes can shift foreign language pedagogy toward paradigms of re-wilding and re-enchantment.
She also holds a BFA in Film & Television Production and a BA in Spanish from the University of Southern California, where she was a Presidential Scholar. She is a double YoungArts alumna in both Film and Visual Arts, and she continues to return to Miami each year to mentor the new winners. She is also a passionate educator, regularly teaching in both academic and creative environments and always seeking to blur the boundary between the two.
Her fascination with multiplicity lends itself to finding peace in the liminal, and she feels most at home in train station cafes, on the road with her siblings, or wandering the trails of her beloved Blue Ridge Mountains.
